Project Background

Wildfire camps serve as crucial hubs for firefighting efforts, requiring reliable power sources to support essential equipment and facilities. The PTK-12ENC project was initiated in response to the urgent need for a self-contained portable generator capable of rapid deployment in these dynamic environments.

Case Study Objective

The primary objective of the PTK-12ENC project was to design and manufacture a portable generator solution that could be quickly assembled and deployed in wildfire camps. Key objectives included:
  • Rapid Deployment: The generator had to be constructed for quick assembly, allowing for immediate deployment upon arrival at the wildfire camp.
  • Self-Containment: Incorporating essential components such as a generator, fuel tank, and battery box into a single enclosure, the solution needed to be self-contained and easily transportable.
  • Portability: To facilitate movement within the campsite, casters were to be integrated into the design, enabling effortless transportation of the generator to various locations as needed.

12 kw Diesel Generator Solution

To address the urgent requirements of the customer, the PTK-12ENC generator was developed with the following key features:

  • Integrated Components: The generator enclosure housed a 12kW generator, a 32-gallon fuel tank, and a battery box, consolidating essential components into a single, self-contained unit for ease of transport and operation.
  • Electrical Receptacles: Mounted directly onto the generator enclosure, electrical receptacles provided convenient access for connecting equipment and devices, streamlining deployment and usage in the wildfire camp.
  • Caster Integration: The toTo enhance portability, casters were strategically added to the generator enclosure, allowing for effortless movement across various terrains within the campsite.
  • Quick Assembly Design: The generator's construction was optimized for rapid assembly, ensuring that it could be promptly set up and put into operation upon arrival at the wildfire camp, minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency.
